IMPORTANT: Before you actually follow this tutorial – have you enabled Windows 8 File and Printer Sharing? If not, this is not going to work.

Enter Printer Sharing into search box and make sure you enable it. The path to the settings is Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings

Adding Network Printer

1. Open the classic Control Panel (open the Metro Control Panel and scroll to bottom, then click on More settings) and go to Hardware and Sound

2. Then click on Advanced printer setup as seen below

3. Select the option “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings” (if this does not work, click on the big Browse button)

1. Go back to step 3 and Select a shared printer by name – click on the Browse button

2. Now you only need to find the shared browser on your network. Obviously, you have to first share your printer before you can see it on the network. Makes sense right? If you haven’t shared any printers yet, it’s obvious why you can’t find a printer.
